$7500 Tax Credit for first time home buyers

Due to the 2008 American Housing Rescue and Foreclosure Act there is a new tax rebate program that offers a $7500 tax rebate to first time home buyers that qualify. To qualify first time home buyers must earn no more than $75000 if they are single and $150,000 if they are married. For the purpose of this tax credit, a first-time homebuyer is defined as someone who has not owned a primary residence in the three-year period ending on the date of purchasing the home. Married couples are considered first-time buyers if neither spouse has owned a residence in the previous three years.
