A client of mine asked how much it would cost per square foot to replace carpet in a 2,600 square foot home they are interested in. I visited Lowes website and found carpet selling for just under $169 for 40 square feet, which is $4.22 per square foot. Installation is advertised at around $250 for an entire house or one room for $199.

Carpet usually ranges from $2 per square foot to $5 per square foot plus installation, depending on the quality of carpet and depending on who installs. $3,000-$5,000 to re-carpet a house is a good guestimate.

Carpet is sold in Square yards, square footage is a gimmick used to make it appear cheaper. Home Depot and Lowes do it, but ask around and you can find a better more reputable installer than one that they will provide. Padding and installation prices are usually give in sq. yd pricing.

carpet cleaning is really high specially of you have a big place, this is the reason why I dont use capers in my home that much and it is hard to clean manually.
